Style Remains

Oscar Wilde once said that fashion is a form of ugliness, so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months. And he is right. Trends come and go, but in order to create one's taste we have to look for those things that will build our style.
Style is like a timeless chameleon; it never dissapeares but has to change in order to adjust the situation. One must stay true to one's style, but also know that there's a time and a place for everything. And that's exactly the point I wanted to reach.
The picture above is the graphic definition of how style and trendyness doesn't apply to a certain age or stage in life.
Where do I want to go with this?
Well, there is a certain age for some silhouettes or trends, but never to be stylish. And some trends can too be transported to once's age if worn correctly.
I've seen women and men, both denying their age by trying to wear things designed for the new generations. Women over 40 wearing skirts above the knee or men older tan 30 trying to rock tight leather skinnys jeans.
This weird combos instead of making them look good, make them look ridiculous and as if they were trying too hard... which in fact they are.
First and most important: Do not deny your age. Paui Soto, beauty editor from Elle Mexico once told me that people should embrace their age because every stage of life is beautiful. Even pimbles as a teenager represent youth something many women would kill for.
But the point is to look for things that make your true essence shine!
Men: If you are searching for a nice pop of color, wear colorful socks. If you want a bomber jacket get one in suede or leather add color to your shoes and wear new balance sneakers. There's no need to wear Adidas by Jeremy Scott or Shiny chain denim by Saint Laurent. Unless you are Steven Tyler, then always choose the shiny stuff.
Women: Don't disrespect yourself why wearing short tight things specially if you don't have the body of a 17 year old girl. Sexyness doesn't mean to be tacky. One of my favourite trends lately are transparencies, see through and lace. Choose something a la Dolce & Gabbana specially with that appealing silhouette of Italian Prima Donna.

Remember, being older doesn't mean to be boring and beaing trendy doesn't mean to look dumm.
Find the trends you like and search for a way to make them suit your age and style. Be true to it, it's the only thing that will always make you look good!
