Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Day 4

6:00 AM Prueba 6 Comments

The last day of fashion week, I got there with one of my friends very excited for another day of fashion shows.

Here I'm wearing a new pair of earrings, which I love by Daniela Villegas Jewellery

The show I most wanted to see was the one from Jesus Ibarra + Bertholdo.

As explained in one of my previous posts, the first collection I saw from these designers, changed my expectations of fashion, my exact words were "Art was walking down the runway."
This time the designers traveled to Kyoto to find inspiration for their SS13 collection.
Jesus Ibarra and Bertholdo Espinoza sketched a collection inspired by the Imperial Gardens of Kyoto, embodied through kimono-type robes, bat-sleeved blouses , cauda pants, palazzos flares at short and long dresses with embroidery and applications, some accompanied by wide leather belts.
25 risky combinations in green grass, olive leaf and lemon, and various types of pink, red and smoked red. Materials such as satin, organza, chiffon and georgette silk mixed with linen, raw silk, leather and natural stone applications were shown at the runway.
The shoes where made by Adriana Soto, consisted of bikini type sandals with heel in colors such as gray, pink, orange, brick and nude.

An hour later, started the TRISTA fashion show, presenting their SS13 collection called "Jamas he vuelto aqui" (I've never returned here).
The show started with a "Studio" on the runway, something that I had never seen here, only in Berlin's Fashion Week and which I found very cool.
This time TRISTA adopts a more urban style almost sporty, complemented by a nostalgic touch, landing in clothes full of handmade details.
This mixture of elements is unified through loose asymmetrical silhouette, accented with parachute jacket, empire waist dresses and Capri pants.

This collection is definitely something I would use. I like the mixture of loose silhouette with sports, especially on dresses. It gives casual and chic touch.
The best thing is that you can use this clothes even with sneackers, which makes it more wearable and comfortable to everyone.

And after these shows, as closing took place the show by designer Alejandro Carlin.

This season Alejandro Carlin created a collection inspired by the feeling of love, reflecting the sensuality, femininity and sophistication that define the style for the modern woman.
This collection was named "Love my Love"

We saw a silhouette inspired by the 60s, high-waisted pants, dresses with geometric forms, ruffles and Capri pants with lace (my favourites).

For this collection predominated orange, acid yellow and nude combined with lace.
The shoes where made by the lovely Karema&Kata in yellow as a bright punch of color!

As I said in my last post, this was the best fashion week which I 've ever attended. I met amazing people, the beautiful new proposals for the Spring/Summer 2013 season and I had the pleasure to meet and interview amazing designers. I could not have asked for anything better.

Hi, can I ask you some questions?

2:14 PM Prueba 4 Comments

"Of course, come on! Let's seat here"- is what designer Alexia Ulibarri answered me.
So I immediately started with the questions.

-What inspired you to create this amazing collection called Lolita?
Well, the collection has two main sources of inspiration.
One is the Bauhaus tredico ballet where I got the color palette, which are pastel-neon. I can't use  bright colors because the woman the ballet talks about has a very nostalgic past, there's where the pink comes from.
The other source of inspiration are the Japanese lolitas, that's why I used round necks and the mix of textures.

-Why did you use a pop element as the Japanese lolitas for the collection?
Because the brand is always inspired by the past.
Lolitas are very pop, but their style is normally inspired by past decades, usually by  the Victorian era.
I wanted to present this antike woman in corsetry, lace and all the romance of Alexia Ulibarri.

-What distinguishes this collection of the above?
We are selling now ready to wear clothing, I started with it in my latest collection, which is already being sold in New York, Milan, Los Angeles, Dubai, Israel and Hong Kong.
It's super-wearable clothing mixed with couture, that's what Lolita is distinguished for.
That's super important because people in Mexico are already beginning to use fashion daily for their, therefore the runway can't be filed only with couture dresses.
I'm a fan of using couture even with sneackers, but the main idea from the collection is to introduce ready to wear  in a much more elegant and cool way so that everyday clothing has a more elegant and chic twist.

-What is your favorite piece in the collection?
I would say the "Daria skirt", which is black with volume and a crop at the waist.
I really like it because it can be dressed up or down and represents the brand and this ready to wear/couture mixture
-Who can wear your clothes?
Any woman can, because my clothes are made by a super feminine, risky, romantic, and very fashion forward woman who thinks that the key to wear any garment is to mix it with your own style and personality.
So I think my clothes are easy to wear for any kind of woman,.

-What is your must-have in any woman's closet?
As always a little black dress, and that's why I like the "Daria skirt", because it comes from a little black dress which can be worn to work and then accessorize for a party.

I loved interviewing a designer as talented as Alexia and see that despite her success, there remains a beautiful, open, funny and easy-going person.
Lolita is a collection I trully adore. My favorite pieces were a studded blazer, the loose and vaporouse pants with this amazing print eyeglasses (the image of the collection), the "Daria skirt" and a black and White long dress with leather aplications.

All clothes were fresh, cute and with thousands of possible combinations, which as Alexia  said makes it a super-wearable collection and the fact that the pieces are part couture,  is for fashion lovers a great opportunity to dress in a chic and sophisticated way most of the time without having to go through life in a gown.

I would like to thank Alexia Ulibarri for letting me interview her and for the support she showed while I told her about this Project.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Day 3

9:21 AM Prueba 1 Comments

This fashion week has been my favorite.
The best was, that I met amazing people and interviewed an incredible designer, whose collection I loved.
The collections were fantastic, very loose clothing, with transparencies, ruffles and inspirations ranging from Asia to classical music, which were reflected on the catwalks.

I arrived more or less at 4pm, so that I was able to see the presentation of the Colombian jewelry designer Sonia Heilbron, in which very elegant, modern and sophisticated pieces were presented.

My first show of the week was Malafacha by Francisco Saldaña and Víctor Herna. They presented low cut slacks, long skirts and shirts with asymmetric fallen shoulders, into a palette consisting of gray, pink, blue and black&white printing.
What I liked the most, was a black&white dress combined with a very cools pair of Adidas sneackers.

Afterwards came the amazing show by designer Alexia Ulibarri, one of my favourites, of which I shall speak more in detail in the next post.

Then was the time for the Lydia Lavin show inspired by the symbolism of the magical town of Cuetzalan, located in the Sierra de Puebla.                                                                                         Lydia Lavin and Montserrat Messeguer favorably surprised attendees of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico with a collection titled 'Cosmogony'.
Casual clothes and cocktail dresses with  reminiscent silhouettes of the 70s in colors like red, fuchsia, yellow, purple, royal blue and lime green , combined with the inevitable black&white, all this in materials such as linen, lace and silk taffeta converted, organza and shantung with traditional embroidery from Cuetzalan, were shown by the duo.

As for jewellery, silver shone in medallion forms, with a mix of feathers, beads and macramé weaving.

After this show, I had a little time to relax and try to re-energize with a delicious fruit punch Vitamin Water  in the American Express Lounge, as time went on to enter the Julia & Renata show.

Everyone wanted to see Julia & Renata, they managed a very pure idea.
Simple hairstyles, a great touch with animal print shoes and dresses as long as robes that stretched the figure of the models. The color palette ranged from mustard to the nude.
I found it a very good concept, the play of light on the catwalk, ethnic music and smoke created a different and sensational atmosphere.

The last fashion show of the day was the one from the Colombian brand Agua Bendita swimwear.
This show broke with the seriousness and typical path of the models.
At the rhythm of the Rihanna's song "Where have you been" mixed with Gregori Klosman's remix of the song "Americano" by Lady Gaga, started the first group of 5 models marching in bikini, hat and military jacket.
After these group tour, the models danced and spun at the runway making a fun and dynamic show, really loved it!

It was a super cool experience, I´ve seen many positive changes since last fashion week and I had a blast!

Fashion Week: What should you wear?

8:11 PM Prueba 2 Comments

So, you have an invitation to a show or you are going to see if you can go in…. (sometimes you can ;) ..) but the question now is….WHAT ARE YOU GONNA WEAR?

First, don’t panic…                                                                                                                                           Second… i can give you some ideas to simplify this situation.
Let’s review the trends of the season.
First of all you might want to consider wearing comfortable shoes.                                                       And now the clothes: Remember, it´s already Fall and you might want to think about the weather while choosing your look.  It´s going to be cold and windy but we can still make it rock. If you were thinking about a dress or skirt try to combine it with a cool jacket, so that you look good but don’t freeze.
The Hot Trends these season are:
-Peplum:
Blouse, dress, belt or skirt will emphasize your waist and give you a great touch of glamour

-Patchwork:
Kaleidoscope of flowers, graphic pictures and pop elements in dresses and suits.

- Military:
Trenches, high boots, leather and military print.

-Leather from Head to Toe:
Leather trenches in colors like military green, black or mustard are very hot these season just as leather leggins, skirts and blouses. You can wear a complete look and be the center of attention.

-Fur:
With the constantly changing climate many people have been forced to wear it, an incredible way to pretect you from the cold and give your outfit a luxury upgrade.

-Studs:
You can wear them in almost anything from blouses and dresses to bags, heels and cuffs, but use it wisely to create a rocker/casual look without getting to punk-crazy.

- Electric Animal Print:
We know animal print very well but what if we added a little color to make it a statement, electric and modern?

-Red:
We‘ve seen „All White“ looks, but now it’s time to make it passionate and sexy by making it „All Red“

-Supersonic:
With colors like purple, blue, gray and black combined with metallic and iridiscent accents you can create a galactic inspired outfit which be impress every heart and soul in this universe
Using all these trends as inspiration, you can create an amazing outfit that attracts the eye of any fashionista.
Now that we have the outfit, it could be good to know the Hair&Makeup trends for FW2012.
Dark&Opaque:
Intense lipsticks are very hot these seasons. Best shades are burgundy, purple, violet, pink, brown, smoked red and even black.

Eyes:
Smokey, wear it with nude lips or a very discrete lipgloss.

Hair:
Bun, twisted pony tail, waves, Frida-braid.

And last but not least: Jewelry
This season it´s all about chains, cuffs and oversized vintage statements.

Now we can say... the BIGGER, the BETTER.
And remember, quoting Anna Dello Russo … “Nothing succeeds like excess” these season!
I hope this helped you get an idea about what to wear!
If it helped or you just like this post comment and share :D !
Stay tuned for more!
